We understand that it can be uncomfortable to meet new people and receive so much information at a time when you are making a big change. Please contact us any time to discuss treatment options. We encourage you to advocate for yourself and ask us anything that needs more clarification. There are no silly questions here. Congratulations on taking this courageous step toward a happy, healthy, need-fulfilling life. We are honored to be a part of your recovery, and will do our very best to help support your growth.

Assessment

Each level of care starts with a confidential assessment with one of our staff counselors. We will schedule a time to meet with you, review the information necessary to determine the appropriate level of care and answer questions about our programs. Assessments generally take 60 to 90 minutes with most clients beginning treatment the day of their assessment.

Insurance

We recognize that the cost of treatment is one of the largest obstacles to entering treatment. We aim to be the most affordable recovery program in Northern California without compromising on our industry leading care. Our team actively works with insurance providers to maximize your benefits throughout your stay at our organization.

Does your insurance cover our programs?

Payment Options

We accept most major private insurance plans. One of our Program Assistants will verify your coverage details and tell you exactly what your costs will be when you get started.  Don’t see your insurance? Call us to discuss private payment options for each program. Ohlhoff is unable to accept Medi-Cal or Medicare. We can still help. To find Medi-Cal and Medicare treatment centers click here or here.

What to Bring

  • Prescription medications (in original bottles)
  • Health insurance card, prescription card, driver’s license or state ID
  • Comfortable, casual clothing that will be stored in an armoire and dresser. We recommend one large suitcase. Laundry facilities and detergent are available for resident use. Sweaters and jackets are recommended as San Francisco weather can be cool in the daytime and cold at night.
  • Workout clothes and comfortable footwear for the gym, yoga, walking, hiking
  • Personal hygiene items, such as toothpaste, deodorant, hair products, makeup.(Please do not bring perfume or cologne).
  • Cell phones. Inpatient clients will not be allowed use of personal phones for the first seven days of treatment. Client phones will be locked in a secure location upon arrival.
  • Headphones and devices including cell phones, iPod, mp3 player
  • Tobacco products. Ohlhoff does not require clients to abstain from tobacco during treatment however we do offer smoking cessation options should you be interested.

What NOT 
to Bring

  • Laptop computers
  • Inappropriate clothing: Clothing that advertises or endorses the use of alcohol or drugs, hate speech, violence, or any other clothing staff considers to be inappropriate. This includes revealing tops, pants, evening wear, etc.
  • Products containing alcohol, such as mouthwash and hairspray
  • Straight razors, knives or weapons of any kind
  • Cameras or recording devices
  • Hand held video games
  • Unsealed over the counter medications
Long term residential only

Pre-Screening

  • TB screen result or scheduled appointment
  • COVID-19 test result (Test taken within 24 hours of arrival or scheduled within 24 hours of arrival)
